Starved Rock Media Announces New Scholarship

Updated: 4 days ago

Today, Steve Vogler, the original principal shareholder of Starved Rock Media, would have been celebrating his 72nd birthday. Starved Rock Media celebrates his life and generosity by announcing a scholarship in his name.

Steve dedicated his life to WLPO, WAJK & 96.5 as Starved Rock Media's Chief Engineer. In death his generosity has allowed these stations to remain 100% locally owned and operated. Today, Starved Rock Media President and General Manager, John Spencer, in association with the Starved Rock County Community Foundation, announces the Stephen Charles Vogler Memorial Scholarship.

The $1220 dollar award will be given annually to one student majoring in electronics or communications at Illinois Valley Community College. Spencer says: “Local media plays a vital role in our community and Starved Rock Media is committed to giving back to the communities we serve.”
