Through the generosity of local donors who care deeply about the advanced education of local youth, the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation is honored and pleased to award two $5000 scholarships in April, 2017.
The Carol and Dick Janko Scholarship was created specifically for recent and upcoming high school graduates who are enrolled in an accredited university or college for the Fall, 2017 semester, and who can demonstrate recent studies or work related activities focused on entrepreneurship. The scholarship reflects Dick and Carol’s lifelong commitment to youth, education, economic development and philanthropy, and offers a significant financial opportunity to the recipient. Applications for this scholarship are available at all high schools in LaSalle, Livingston, Bureau and Putnam Counties, and on the Foundation website at www.srccf.org.
The Rising Star Scholarship, is open to any high school senior, who is a resident of Marseilles or Seneca, and who has been accepted to the University of Illinois, Department of Education, for the Fall, 2017 Semester. The anonymous creator of the Rising Star Scholarship is a long-time educator in the community, and wishes to provide the Rising Star Scholarship to a graduating high school senior who demonstrates outstanding drive and the desire to return to the Seneca, Marseilles or nearby area to teach elementary education. This scholarship provides a $5000 award, and applications are available at Seneca and Ottawa High Schools, Marquette Academy, and on the Foundation website, www.srccf.org.
Winners will be selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation after a thorough review of all appropriate and complete scholarship applications.
