The Starved Rock Country Community Foundation (SRCCF) is pleased and honored to announce the creation of the Carol and Dick Janko Scholarship for Promising Entrepreneurs. The scholarship, initially established with a $50,000 gift, will be awarded to high school and/or college graduates from LaSalle, Bureau, Livingston and Putnam Counties wishing to further their education to become local entrepreneurs. This scholarship truly represents Dick and Carol’s lifelong commitment to youth, education and economic development, and will offer significant financial opportunities to the recipients.

As a gesture of love, honor and respect, Dick and Carol’s children have established a matching gift program for the scholarship. What an amazing tribute to their parents, and to our community.

The SRCCF opened its doors in October, 2015, and is proud to be the newest community foundation in the State of Illinois, and perhaps in the United States. Governed by a thirteen-member Board of Directors from throughout LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties, we have opened 18 funds, including three scholarships, and are exceeding our first year’s revenue projections by nearly 63%.

The foundation’s program of work is primarily two-fold; to provide a central vehicle for generous donors to use to make local charitable grants of their choosing, and to create scholarships for donors who want to provide financial assistance to students in our community.

Simply stated, our mission is to match people who care with causes that matter, forever. Unrestricted gifts to the Leadership Fund for Now, are also welcome, and will support the financial infrastructure of the organization and to provide funds that can be used for unrestricted grants back to the community.

The Foundation office is located at 718 Columbus Street, Ottawa, Illinois. If you are interested in donating or learning more about the SRCCF, please contact Pamela Becket at 815.252.2906 or pamela@srccf.org .
