YOUTH ENGAGED IN PHILANTHROPY
Students in the YEP program participated in monthly meetings, leadership activities, and volunteer outreach to understand the need for philanthropy. They learned to analyze grant applications and identify the potential impact a grant could have on other youth throughout our area. SRCCF provided a grant of $500 for the YEP members to award. Grant requests were submitted by several organizations serving youth throughout Starved Rock Country. After careful evaluation of all grant applications the YEP members chose the Penguin Project at Engle Lane Theater as the grant recipient of $500!
A personal presentation to Penguin Project Director, Jeff Houk, was made by the YEP members. The first Penguin Project performance of Anne, Jr. was presented in March, 2018. Without a doubt, the members gained an understanding of the reason for non-profit organizations, how they are structured, managed and funded.
Stay tuned for the creation of the next YEP Group of Starved Rock Country!
